Technology in Mesopotamia

With the growth of river civilizations and the move away from hunting and gathering, people had time and resources for new technologies and tools. This greatly improved their lives. Many of the discoveries in Mesopotamia are still in use today.

  1. The of Mesopotamian people invented many things. They invented the plow which is still used to day. They invented the plows to help help them plant crops. They use plows today to make zillions of hole in the field where the seedlings would go. Plows have helped farmers for many years.

  2. Inventions that Mesopotamia made that we still use today. I've picked the sailboat, the sailboat is used today by fisherman or other people, we use a sailboat to get fish to eat at home or just go fishing for fun. We also use a sailboat to go out at rivers, lakes,or seas and explore the water creatures. We can use a sailboat out at sea that's how we find more underwater creatures everyday.

  3. An invention that the Mesopotamian's made that we still use today is the sailboat. We still use this to fish and to just plain go out on the weekend and have a good time. Sometimes but not often, even to transport goods over short distances on a body of water. And that is an invention that the Mesopotamian's invented and we still use today.

  4. Things invented by Mesopotamia.
1.The concept of time was invented in Mesopotamia and we still use it to this day, it is one of the most important invention of all time. Without that invention I wouldn't know it's 9;22 right now. We've used time for 5 thousand years for a reason and that reason is that it's one of the most helpful and useful concepts ever invented.

  5. One Mesopotamian invention that is still used today is the plow. The plow was invented long ago in Mesopotamia for farming and was pulled by an ox. Today, plows are still used for farming, but are more electronic and modernized. That is one ancient Mesopotamian invention that is still used today.

  7. The Mesopotamian’s had a wide knowledge of mathematics including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, quadratic and cubic equations, and fractions. This was important in keeping track of records as well as in some of their large building projects. The Mesopotamian’s also used a number system with the base 60 (like we use base 10). They divided time up by 60’s including a 60 second minute and a 60 minute hour, which we still use today. They also divided up the circle into 360 degrees. We also still use the 360 degrees for our circles.

  9. By definition a plow is a farm tool with one or more heavy blades that breaks the soil and cut a furrow (small ditch) for sowing seeds. A moldboard is the wedge formed by the curved part of a steel plow blade that turns the furrow.

    Early Plows

One early type of plow used in the United States was little more than a crooked stick with an iron point attached, sometimes with rawhide, which simply scratched the ground. Plows of this sort were in use in Illinois as late as 1812. However, plows designed to turn a deep furrow for planting seeds were needed. Early attempts were often just heavy chunks of tough wood, rudely cut into shape, with a wrought-iron point clumsily attached. The moldboards were rough and the curves of no two were alike.

At that time, country blacksmiths made plows only on order and few had patterns for plows.Plows could turn a furrow in soft ground only if the oxen or horses were strong enough - but friction was so great a problem that three men and several animals were required to turn a furrow when the ground was hard.

  10. One of the things I found was they used was a sail boat the Mesopotamian used the sail boat was for trade to near by cities and countries. This was also to transport there people. They would also transport there goods for people the rough stream water. Another thing they used it for was fishing and irrigation. They wanted to keep with the other cities for there trade.

We still use them till this day on the beaches for people to just cruse around and to travel down a beach or travel to a destination. Then like they did was to fish but i guess they really didn't use them to eat but for fun. The sail boats back in the Mesopotamian were different then now because they were made out of wood know they are way different.

  11. I leaned that in Mesopotamia human learns to domesticate horses, bulls, and other animals that are useful for them. The chariot is not a sudden invention, but the gradual improvement of the earliest carriage The chariot was the first concept of personal transportation. It had been used for years as a key technology for the warfare, most of the ancient sports, and the means of transportation. The structure of earliest chariot was made of light wood with a bend wood’s rim.

The First chariot had appeared around 3200 BC in Mesopotamia. The derived form of the chariot was used mostly in every civilization until the motorized transportation came into existences. Chariots were also used as a luxurious means of transportation for the Royal families and higher class people.

Some we use for example like oven bake clay we use them sometimes and so dont Mesopotamia we also have laws like Mesopotamia. They also have a lot of stuff that they did we still do like. Mesopotamian people developed many technologies, among them metalworking, glass making, textile weaving, food control, and water storage and irrigation. They were also one of the first Bronze age people in the world. Early on they used copper, bronze and gold, and later they used iron.

  15. The Mesopotamian invented money. they used money so that they can by goods and the things they needed. They did use cons for the money. The reason they invited money is so they did not want to trad there stuff for good then they would not have any stuff.

How they made the tokes. They would take clay balls and flat them then they would put numbers and other things so you would know how much the tokens where.

The ball started rolling in primeval Egypt and Mesopotamia. Later, around 250 BC, coins made from valuable metals such as gold, silver and bronze became popular.
